JEL students at TriCounty Schools held a
butt kicking contest in March.
Reaching Students
Our JEL clubs at the high schools and middle schools have been busy in the past few months letting their classmate know about the lies of Big Tobacco. Several interactive presentations were given to elementary and middle school students, and “street marketing” events were held at Pekin and Sigourney schools.
Kick Butts Day
Fairfield, Pekin, and Sigourney Schools had registered events in the National Kick Butts Day celebration on March 24. Each school held an art contest to inspire students to depict the dangers of tobacco. (See winning entry for Pekin below).Entries will be displayed at the Fairfield Art Walk in May. At TriCounty Schools, JEL students sponsored a “Kick Butts” contest, where contestants tried to kick a foot long cigarette butt the farthest in the gym.
